Bullseye Glass Alchemy Clear, Silver to Gold 10x10
Cold Characteristics: The unfired sheet displays a faint blue tint.
Working Notes : When fired, silver foil develops a golden hue wherever it contacts 1015 (Alchemy Clear).
Variations in effects can occur due to differences in silver sources, thicknesses, glass production runs, and heatwork (such as firing times, temperatures, and the number of firings).
For optimal color development, a 1-hour soak at 1225°F during the pre-rapid heat phase of the firing cycle is recommended.
Note: When firing silver foil in the kiln, be aware that the silver reaction may spread across the glass surface and onto the kiln shelf, potentially affecting silver-sensitive glasses in subsequent firings. This can happen even if new shelf release (paper or primer) is applied to the kiln shelf. When fired between layers, silver is generally more contained and less likely to impact the firing surface.
