Studio Safety Policy
Required Clothing
Closed-toe shoes, a cotton shirt, and long pants are required. Gloves, dust masks (when working with powders), aprons, and safety glasses will be provided as needed.
Fire-resistant protective equipment must be worn when participating in techniques that involve working inside or near an active kiln.
Age Limits
Participants must be 16 years of age or older to take any classes at Art Glass City.
Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present during the class.
*Failure to follow studio safety guidelines or instructor direction may result in removal from class without refund.*
General Class Rules
Photography & Recording
Photography and video recording are not permitted in the studio during class sessions.
Class materials, instructions, and handouts may not be shared or distributed outside of the enrolled class.
Finished student work may be photographed for promotional or educational use on Art Glass City and/or William Thompson’s websites and social media platforms. No names or personal information will be shared without permission.
Class Registration & Cancellation
The studio seats up to 10 students per class.
Pre-registration and payment are required to reserve a spot for visiting instructors.
Class cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance to receive a refund.
One and Multi-Class Bundles
If a student has planned to be accompanied with another student or a group during any of the classes provided the same technique will be tought to all students
Four-class bundles must be completed within six (6) weeks of the first class.
If you anticipate scheduling conflicts, please contact us in advance so we can work with you.
Project Pickup
Completed projects must be picked up within 10 business days of notification.
Due to limited storage space, unclaimed work may be forfeited.
If shipping is required student will be invoiced separately.
Kiln Rental Policy
Art Glass City offers five kilns of various sizes available for rental.
Kiln rentals must be scheduled in advance due to firing cycles.
A firing schedule must be provided and approved prior to rental.
Art Glass City is not responsible for glass behavior or outcomes resulting from user-submitted firing schedules.
Equipment Use & Responsibility
Students will be provided with hand glass-cutting tools and access to a Morton glass cutting system.
Cold-working equipment may only be used after proper instruction.
Damage to equipment (including diamond pads, grinder heads, or related tools) caused by negligence will result in the student being responsible for repair or replacement costs. Continued misuse may result in loss of cold-working privileges.
Art Glass City is not responsible for damage occurring during cold-working.
If a fused project is damaged during the kiln-firing process, we will assist in correcting the issue when possible, but results cannot be guaranteed.
*Art Glass City reserves the right to refuse service or remove participants who do not follow studio policies or instructor direction.*
